I personally like the Avent with the nipple for breastfed babies. But he only gets an occasional bottle of breastmilk, so I don't know if that helps. I know a lot of people love Dr. Browns but my DH hated using them.
I bought one of each kind and tried them until we found the one we liked.

you'll probably end up trying all three to see which one your baby will prefer. i also loved the playtex drop ins. i used them after switching from BF at 9 weeks.

You should try them all and let the baby decide what they like. We tried 3 bottles before Michael found one that he liked.

We registered for Dr. Browns and Playtex Nursers with the Drop-Ins and my daughter wouldn't take the dr. browns. When she did she spit up more --- I think because it was a fight to get her to take it so she sucked in more air --- we used the Playtex and still do at 9 mos.

I also used Playtex nursers with the drop-in's with Caiden and will with this baby. I never had any problems with them. I also BF. I was told that the Dr. Brown's bottles were good, but weren't necessary unless the baby was having problems with gas/reflux and stuff. Caiden had issues with gas for a little while but that was before bottles. I've heard the Dr. Brown bottles are a bit more time consuming to clean, etc. The nursers are sooo much easier to deal with. Also, they're cheaper! I wouldn't jump into the Dr. Brown's try other brands first. JMO!!! Good luck!

Katie HATES the Playtex bottles. She can't get anything out of the nipples either. She loves Dr. Brown's and they really help with the gas. I wish the Playtex ones worked for us but they don't. I guess bottom line is that you never know what your baby will like so I would hold on to all of them for now until you know which your baby likes.

Re: bottles.. playtex, dr. Browns or Avent?>
I have tried all three in addition to the Playtex Ventaire. DD could not get anything out of the Ventaire unless it was the stage 2 nipples and then it was all over her and she spit up almost all of it. I hated the Avent because I could never get the top on properly for it to not leak. The Playtex drop-ins were fine, I just didn't like that it was hard to see exactly how much she ate -- to time burping. She has been doing fine with the Dr. Brown's. I'm not sure if they were necessary for her, but that is what we started with and since none of the others really worked out, we stayed with these. There are more pieces to wash and it does get to be a pain, but I just deal with it for now.
If you're going to be switching between BFing and bottle feeding, it is recommended to use the wide neck bottles since the shape is more like the breast. The only thing is that their lips are supposed to go over the WIDE portion of the nipple, in order for it to be being used properly -- to simulate BFing. My DD would not open wide enough, and she was just putting the small, nipple portion in her mouth, so we switched to the regular kind of bottles. The wide neck Dr. Brown's didn't fit into my overnight bottle cooler/warmer so since DD wan't using them properly anyway we went to the regular ones.
HTH.
